Junior Payroll Officer

The Company:
We are partnering with a large, values-driven organisation seeking a motivated and reliable Junior Payroll Officer to join their established People & Culture team.

The organisation is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, whether you have some payroll experience already or are at the beginning of your career and are looking to learn and develop within a supportive team.

The Opportunity:
Working as part of a two-person payroll team, you will support the end-to-end processing of a fortnightly payroll for approximately 2,500 employees.

You will gain exposure to a broad range of payroll processes while working closely with an experienced payroll professional and the wider People & Culture team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with the end-to-end processing of a high-volume fortnightly payroll
• Supporting payroll processing and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
• Assisting with payroll reconciliations, validations and adjustments
• Responding to employee payroll enquiries and escalating more complex matters when required
• Learning and applying payroll legislation, Enterprise Agreements and employment conditions
• Assisting with payroll-related matters including:
  • Long Service Leave
  • Terminations
  • Redundancies
  • Workers Compensation payments and reimbursements
• Supporting salary packaging and novated lease arrangements
• Maintaining accurate payroll records
• Assisting with payroll compliance and reporting
• Working closely with the wider HR and People & Culture team
• Contributing to process improvements and developing your payroll knowledge

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Some exposure to payroll, finance, administration or a related area is advantageous, but not essential
• A genuine interest in building a career in payroll
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

• A willingness to learn and develop new skills
• The ability to follow processes and work to deadlines
• A proactive and positive approach to your work
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Previous experience in a high-volume environment will be viewed favourably
