What they need

As a Junior Product Design Engineer in our R&D department, you will do much more than sit at a desk and execute commands. You will design parts, and you will talk to the people building with them, because each one makes you better at the other.

Time in CAD and time with customers are both part of the job. Working through problems with end-users teaches you things about a part that no amount of design work alone will surface, and that knowledge goes directly back into what you design next. We are looking for a hungry, creative problem solver, and above all, a passionate maker, someone driven to build, tinker, and bring fresh ideas to the table. In this role you will take ownership of your projects, form your own opinions, and grow your skills alongside a supportive team that shares your enthusiasm.

A college degree is not required for this role. We care about what you have built, not where you studied.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and Prototyping:
  • You will help turn design concepts into physical reality. Utilizing your strong foundation in Autodesk Fusion, you will carry out assigned CAD tasks, 3D print parts, and assemble prototypes to test how new ideas fit and function in the real world.
  • Supporting Builders:

You will take customer calls and answer support emails, helping students, coaches, hobbyists, and engineers solve real problems with real hardware. Their questions range from "which bearing do I need?" to "why is my drivetrain binding?". You will be the person who gets them unstuck.

  • Closing the Loop:

This is where the two halves meet. When a part keeps generating the same question, when a tolerance is causing trouble in the field, when three teams in a week describe the same failure, you will be the first person in the building to know it. We expect you to bring that back to R&D, and we expect it to change what we design. Support doesn't subtract from our engineering work but rather informs it.We hold our products to an incredibly high standard, which means our design reviews are direct, honest, and highly detailed. Not every idea makes the cut, and that is just part of the process. We are a team bonded by a shared goal: making the absolute best products possible. You will absorb constructive feedback to rapidly elevate your design skills. We expect you to speak up. Pitch new ideas and actively participate in R&D brainstorming, especially when they come from something you heard on a support call.Who We Are Looking For

  • Collaborative Design Reviews:
  • Brining Fresh Ideas:
  • Familiarity with Our World:
  • Experience using ServoCity® or goBILDA® products, or direct experience participating in FTC, FRC, VEX, or similar robotics competitions, tells us more about you than almost anything else on a resume. It also means you can speak to our customers as someone who has been where they are.
  • A Passionate Maker:

You genuinely love building things and have the hands-on experience to prove it. A degree isn't everything here: your portfolio matters. (Note: Be prepared to show and discuss your personal projects during the interview, as we want to see what you love to make!)You must have a strong foundational comfort level working in Autodesk Fusion..You can explain a mechanical concept clearly over the phone or in writing, and you stay patient when someone is frustrated with a build. Customer service experience isn't required; a real interest in helping people solve problems is.You have a positive, resilient mindset and welcome constructive criticism. You understand that direct feedback isn't personal; it is how our team collaborates to achieve excellence. You have the drive and responsibility to manage your own time, balance design work against incoming support requests, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.

  • Autodesk Fusion Proficient:
  • A Clear Communicator:
  • Resilient & Team-Oriented:
  • A Driven Self-Starter:

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement plan
  • Vision insurance
