Jr./Assistant Project Manager/Engineer - Charleston, SC

Lead major heavy civil projects. Own budgets, schedules, and project performance. Build toward senior project leadership.

We are partnering with a long-established, family-owned U.S. specialty contractor to appoint an accomplished and ambitious Jr./Assistant Project Manager/Engineer to join its growing team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a major heavy civil paving project, working closely with owners, project managers, engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, and senior leadership to deliver projects safely, profitably, and to the highest standard.

The Opportunity

As a Jr./Assistant Project Manager/Engineer, you will take ownership of the commercial and operational management of this confidential project, with responsibility for budgets, schedules, contracts, resources, and overall project performance.

The position provides the opportunity to progress quickly rather than simply moving into a role that restricts levels of responsibility, without the need for regular external travel.

You will work closely with an experienced team, take on increasing responsibility and work towards ultimately running this work more autonomously.

This is much more than an administrative project management position, and will continue beyond this upcoming project.

Your responsibilities will include

• Playing a key role in project budgets, schedules, contracts, and overall financial performance
• Monitoring production, job costs, and resource utilization against estimates
• Working closely with Superintendents and Operations Managers on equipment and crew requirements
• Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, material deliveries, and project documentation
• Assisting with change orders, Extra Work Orders, and CORs, and monthly job cost and profit projections
• Communicating with owners, engineers, and key project stakeholders to support smooth project delivery

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone to step into a Jr./Assistant Project Manager/Engineer with the commercial awareness and leadership skills to coordinate a heavy civil paving project.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of experience working on heavy civil construction projects
• Strong understanding of construction estimating, take-offs, and cost control
• Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
