Junior Purchaser

About the role

You will assist in sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating supplies such as marine stores, equipment, consumables and provisions for vessels and shipyard projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in sourcing marine stores, equipment, consumables, provisions, and general supplies.
• Request quotations from local and overseas suppliers.
• Prepare Quotation and issue purchase orders to approved suppliers.
• Follow up with suppliers on order confirmation, delivery schedules, and outstanding items.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery arrangements.
• Assist in negotiating prices and commercial terms where required.
• Coordinate delivery arrangements with suppliers, drivers, and warehouse personnel.
• Assist with resolving discrepancies involving quantity, pricing, or incorrect items.
• Maintain and update the approved supplier/vendor list.
• Support supplier evaluation and performance monitoring.

About you

• Diploma, NITEC/Higher NITEC, or equivalent qualification.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Willing to learn purchasing and procurement processes.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Organised and able to manage multiple purchase requests.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to communicate with suppliers and internal departments professionally.
• Experience in purchasing, marine, engineering, logistics, or supply chain will be an advantage but is not compulsory.
