Position : Junior Quantity Surveyor (Construction)
Location: JWA Design & Build, Plaza YLY, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, 88400 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Working Hours: 8am-5pm (Monday-Friday)
Salary: RM2,000 - RM3,000

Job Summary

The Junior Quantity Surveyor supports the QS and project team in managing project costs, quantities, subcontractor claims, variations, purchasing, and contract documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quantity & Cost Control

• Assist with quantity take-offs from drawings, BQ, and specifications.
• Prepare measurements, cost estimates, and project cost reports.
• Monitor project costs and expenditure.

2. Progress Claims & Variations

• Assist in preparing and verifying subcontractor progress claims.
• Measure site progress and prepare supporting documents.
• Record and calculate variation orders.

3. Contract & Site Coordination

• Maintain contract and project documentation.
• Assist with contractual correspondence and claims.
• Conduct site visits to verify work progress and quantities.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

4. Purchasing

• Assist in obtaining and comparing supplier quotations.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and Purchase Orders (PO).
• Follow up on orders and delivery schedules.
• Check invoices, delivery orders, and supporting documents.
• Maintain proper purchasing records.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
• 1–2 years of construction experience is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of construction, costing, quantity measurement and purchasing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Good numerical, analytical, communication and documentation skills.
• AutoCAD/QS software knowledge is an advantage.
• Willing to travel to project sites when required.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must possess a valid driving licence.
