What they need
About us
We’re a growing guttering and roofing company looking after homes and businesses across London, with a loyal base of returning customers. We’re looking for a junior to join us and help look after that returning business.
About the role
This is an outbound phone sales role. You won’t be cold calling. Everyone you speak to already knows us: past customers, people we’ve quoted, and people who have recently enquired.
Most of your day will be spent calling past customers whose gutters are due another clear. You’ll also follow up on quotes that didn’t go ahead, often because the timing wasn’t right, and on recent enquiries that were never booked in. Your job is to get back in touch, find out what each customer needs, and book the work.
It’s a busy, high-volume role, with around 130 calls a day. Many calls won’t be answered, so resilience and a steady rhythm matter as much as phone skills. In return, you’ll get full training, a clear target, a bonus that rewards results, and a real route into a full sales role within 3 months.
What you’ll be doing
- Calling past customers who are due a return visit, and booking their gutter clears
- Following up on previous quotes to re-open them and close them
- Contacting customers who enquired recently but didn’t book
- Explaining the value of regular maintenance, and offering annual clearance plans where they fit
- Handling objections confidently and politely, with no pushy selling
- Logging every call and outcome in HubSpot, and booking jobs in Jobber with clear notes for our crews
- Asking happy customers for referrals
- Working towards a daily target
What we’re looking for
- At least 1 year’s experience in customer service, sales, or another customer-facing role, such as retail, hospitality, a call centre or an office
- A confident, friendly telephone manner
- Experience of working to daily or weekly targets
- Good computer skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to pick up new software quickly
- Clear written communication for notes and follow-up emails
- A resilient, positive attitude, so you can stay upbeat when calls go unanswered or customers say no
- A genuine interest in building a career in sales
Experience with HubSpot, Jobber or another CRM would be a bonus but isn’t essential, because full training is provided.
What you’ll get
- Base salary and monthly bonus
- A clear route into a full sales role within 3 months, based on your performance
- A full induction, with product training, systems training and call shadowing in your first week
- Weekly coaching and feedback in your first month
