Junior School Receptionist

Full-time, Term-time, Permanent

Epsom, Auckland

Commencement: Term 4, 2026

About us:

Epsom-based St Cuthbert's College is one of New Zealand's most distinctive schools for girls, a place where academic excellence, a purpose-built all-girls environment, and an extraordinary second campus come together to prepare every student for the life she chooses to create. Combined with outstanding academic outcomes, a breadth of co-curricular life, and a values-led community that walks alongside each girl from age five to eighteen, these elements create an education that shapes not just what a girl achieves, but who she becomes.

About the role:

St Cuthbert’s College is seeking a warm, professional and highly organised Junior School Receptionist to join our team. This is a front-facing role and will be the first point of contact for students, parents, staff and visitors to the College.

The successful candidate will provide a welcoming and professional reception service while supporting the smooth day-to-day administration of the Junior School. The role involves operating the College switchboard, responding to enquiries, managing incoming and outgoing mail, and providing administrative support to Junior School staff.

You will need excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across the College. A calm and professional approach, strong organisational skills and a high level of confidentiality are essential. The role also provides support with student wellbeing and first aid, as well as a range of Junior School activities and events.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a warm, welcoming and professional reception service, greeting and registering visitors to the College.
  • Operate the College switchboard and respond to enquiries from students, parents, staff and visitors.
  • Receive and distribute messages promptly to relevant staff.
  • Assist with Junior School activities, events and administrative requirements, including stationery orders, certificates, assemblies and school trips.
  • Provide support with student first aid and wellbeing matters, including contacting parents and supporting the Junior School Nurse when required.
  • Coordinate Junior School Road Patrol arrangements, including rosters, parent volunteers and student support.
  • Maintain a professional, welcoming and organised reception environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous reception experience, preferably within a corporate or educational environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills.
  • A warm, approachable and professional manner.
  • A high level of discretion and understanding of confidentiality.
  • A calm, flexible and proactive approach to supporting students and staff.

What we can offer you:

  • An opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative school environment.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Access to a free Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
  • Access to the Sports Complex and physiotherapist.
  • Eligibility for a life insurance policy if working a minimum of 15 hours per week.
