Education / experience

Requires Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field and 1-2 years of relevant experience in Java development, API development or as a Software Developer.

Summary

Junior Software Developer with hands-on experience building and testing Java backend services and REST APIs on the Apigee API management platform, and deploying them to the AWS cloud platform. Works as part of an Agile team under the guidance of senior engineers and architects.

Skills and Competencies

• Hands-on experience developing backend applications in Java (Java 11 or later) using Spring Boot
• Working knowledge of RESTful API design, HTTP, JSON and API documentation using OpenAPI / Swagger
• Experience building or maintaining API proxies and policies on the Apigee API management platform
• Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS and IAM
• Experience with Git and Maven or Gradle
• Understanding of SQL and relational databases
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills and the ability to work within a team or independently

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain Java / Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs according to defined designs and coding standards.
• Build and configure Apigee API proxies, including security, traffic management and mediation policies, following established API standards.
• Write unit and integration tests (JUnit, Mockito) and support automated API testing.
• Assist senior developers with deploying and configuring services in AWS environments.
• Troubleshoot and fix defects across development, test and production environments; support production releases.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, daily stand-ups and other Agile ceremonies.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including API specifications and deployment notes.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Developer - Associate
• Exposure to Apigee X or Apigee hybrid
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI
