Junior Software Engineer

Salvo is a new approach to help millions of Americans facing chronic health conditions, centered on chronic gut health and metabolic conditions from IBS to obesity. Our patients are assigned a “whole patient” care team and have seven day a week access to app-based care, using Remote Patient Monitoring (“RPM”) to bill under the patient’s insurance. This is a major step forward to go beyond episodic appointments to continuous care at home, and deliver interdisciplinary wraparound care in partnership with the patient’s existing local doctor.

Salvo is the first to bring a scalable and tech-enabled, more integrative approach to these chronic conditions, going beyond treating only the symptoms in order to identify and address the root causes of chronic illness.

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to frontend, backend, and mobile applications up and down the stack. As a small team, we highly value the ability to learn quickly and participate in a shared responsibility for all the elements of our product.

You will report to the Head of Engineering. We work remotely, but have a small hybrid presence of folks in and around New York, NY.

What You Will Do

• Contribute to the development of our web, mobile, and backend applications
• Partner with Product and Design to guide the direction of our products, integrations, and technology. Your participation in the product development process is essential!
• Integrate third-party technologies including medical devices and EHRs into our platform
• Use cutting-edge generative AI techniques to build intelligence into our clinical platform

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA
• 0-2+ years of professional experience engineering data-rich applications
• Excitement about working in a dynamic environment with unanswered questions
• Some experience with both frontend and backend programming in Javascript or Typescript (preferred)
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience
• Authorization to work in the United States

Nice to have

• Experience with React web development
• Experience with React Native or mobile app development in general
• Experience with healthcare technology
• Experience with LLMs, both as a development tool and as an application feature

We assign each patient a “whole patient” care team and offer daily access to app-based care, using Remote Patient Monitoring (“RPM”) and Chronic Care Management (“CCM”) to bill. These services are covered by most patient’s insurance, both Medicare and commercial.

Salvo represents a major step forward to go beyond episodic appointments to continuous care, and deliver interdisciplinary wraparound care in partnership with the patient’s existing specialist. Salvo customers include over 700 GI physicians who have contracted to bring Salvo to their patients; three of the four largest independent GI practices in the US have chosen Salvo.
