What they need

Junior Solutions & Reporting Engineer
Junior role · R15,000–R17,000 per month · Data-driven client solutions on the Meshed 360 (M360) platform

About the role

You'll build client-facing solutions on top of the Meshed 360 ERP/inventory platform: business intelligence dashboards, reconciliation reports, operational infographics, write-back automations, and self-service portals. The work covers the full lifecycle, from pulling correct data out of the M360 API to turning it into polished, branded deliverables and maintaining them in production for real clients across food, medical, leather, beverage, and retail sectors.

This is a hands-on junior role with room to grow. You'll be mentored by the team while taking real ownership of smaller builds from day one, working up to larger client deliverables as you gain confidence. Most of the building is done by directing Claude, so you're expected to ship working, correct results, not to be a career programmer. We'll help you get there.

What we care about most: data correctness

Our competitive edge is that our numbers are right. Anyone can generate a visually impressive dashboard; ours reconcile to the source. The ideal candidate treats a wrong figure as a defect, understands why a total might be quietly inflated by draft records or double-counted lines, and validates output against the underlying system before shipping. If you've ever caught a reporting bug that everyone else trusted, you'll fit in here.

Core requirements

  • Claude fundamentals: practical, working knowledge of Skills (authoring, structuring, and maintaining reusable skill packages), Projects (scoping context and memory to a body of work), and using Claude to write and run real code, not just chat.
  • Proven delivery: you can point to something you've actually built that solved a real problem for real users, whether a report that replaced a manual spreadsheet, an automation that killed a recurring task, or a small tool someone else came to rely on. A portfolio, a side project, or work from a previous role all count. We want evidence you finish and ship, not just coursework.
  • APIs: you understand REST APIs end to end, including authentication with bearer tokens, pagination, rate limiting, handling paged and wrapped responses, and joining data across endpoints. You can read API docs, probe an unfamiliar endpoint, and reason about why a response looks the way it does.
  • Building with AI, not hand-coding: you don't need to be a trained developer. You should be comfortable directing Claude to write and run code, reading what it produces well enough to tell whether it's right, and iterating until it works. Familiarity with Python or web pages (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) is a bonus, but the core skill is getting a working result out of the tools rather than writing it all yourself from scratch.

Strongly desirable

  • Resilient data pipelines: writing fetch jobs that survive interruptions, respect rate limits without failing, and keep the slow network step separate from the fast assembly step.
  • PHP and shared-hosting deployment: experience deploying to cPanel/shared hosting, including proxy architectures, TTL caching, cron scheduling, and working within execution-time and outbound-request constraints.
  • Data reconciliation: matching two sources that should agree (for example orders vs. invoices, stock vs. movement) and explaining every discrepancy rather than papering over it.
  • Clear visual communication: turning rough notes, a site visit, or a scoping session into an infographic or one-pager a new team member could understand on day one, without the author in the room.
  • Xero/accounting literacy: understanding invoices, credit notes, tax-inclusive vs. tax-exclusive amounts, and how migration dates can distort period reporting.
  • Security and access awareness: treating tokens as sensitive, understanding that client-side filtering is not security, and knowing row-level access must be enforced server-side.

What you'll work on

  • Live-refresh client dashboards backed by per-organisation API tokens.
  • Reconciliation and margin/volume reports that clients trust for decisions.
  • Operational infographics and process maps for client onboarding and staff training.
  • Write-back automations and self-service import/approval portals.
  • A shared, versioned reporting toolkit used across the team, contributing under a review-and-merge workflow, keeping one fix in one place.

How you'll help the team

  • Take work off the queue: own smaller reports, fixes, and infographics end to end so the team has more capacity for larger client builds.
  • Strengthen the shared toolkit: contribute cleanly under a review-and-merge workflow, so a fix you make benefits every client at once.
  • Keep quality high: validate your output, hold the line on data correctness, and flag problems early rather than letting them reach a client.
  • Grow into more: surface platform gaps you hit in the field, learn the API deeply, and help turn repeatable client work into simpler, reusable solutions as you develop.

How we work

  • Ship real deliverables, then maintain them. Production correctness over demos.
  • Single-writer discipline on shared code: propose, review, merge. No silent divergence.
  • Every non-trivial report has a committed build script. The script is the source of record, not the generated file.
  • Validate before delivery: a single parse error blanks a whole page, and a single wrong number erodes client trust. We check both.

The ideal candidate in one line

Someone who knows Claude's Skills, Projects, and code well enough to build real things by directing it, has already made something people actually used, reads an API like a map, and cares more about the number being right than the chart looking visually good.
