About Big Wine Freaks

Big Wine Freaks is built by people who genuinely love wine and the moments it creates.

We believe wine is at its best when shared openly, poured with confidence and enjoyed in a room filled with energy, conversation and life.

Wine is central to the BWF experience, curated with intention and served with knowledge, but never treated as something distant or intimidating. Curiosity and generosity matter as much as expertise.

Food, music and service move together with the rhythm of the evening. Early hours invite discovery and conversation, while later moments lean into warmth, flow and connection. The experience evolves naturally, shaped by the people in the room rather than fixed rules.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Sommelier with a strong interest in wine and a genuine desire to develop professionally.

Working closely with the Head Sommelier and the wider front-of-house team, you will support wine service, guest engagement and the day-to-day organisation of the wine programme.

This is a hands-on position combining guest-facing service with the practical responsibilities required to keep the wine programme running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Sommelier and service team during daily operations.
  • Assist guests with wine selections based on their preferences, chosen dishes and budget.
  • Present and serve wines confidently while following appropriate service standards.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the wine list, producers, regions, vintages and styles.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries, organising storage and maintaining the wine cellar.
  • Support regular stock takes and help monitor inventory and availability.
  • Assist with wine-list updates, new additions and rotations.
  • Help maintain wine-service equipment and ensure all materials are prepared before service.
  • Participate in wine tastings, briefings and team-training sessions.
  • Continue developing wine knowledge through independent learning and practical experience.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen, bar and front-of-house teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.
  • Adapt wine service to the pace, atmosphere and needs of each evening.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong interest in wine and enthusiasm for developing a career as a sommelier.
  • Some previous experience in wine service, restaurants or hospitality is preferred.
  • Professional wine training or certification is an advantage but not essential.
  • Comfortable interacting with guests in a warm, confident and approachable manner.
  • Willingness to learn from the Head Sommelier and take on increasing responsibility.
  • Organised and reliable, with good attention to detail.
  • Proactive, team-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Available to work evening shifts, weekends and public holidays according to the roster.

What We Offer

  • Salary from S$3,500 per month, with room for negotiation depending on experience and profile.
  • Annual Wage Supplement (AWS).
  • Progressive service incentive scheme based on selected performance targets.
  • 14 days of annual leave.
  • Medical insurance, including dental coverage.
  • Five-day work week with two days off.
  • Closed every Sunday.
  • Transportation provided after late-night shifts.
  • Direct collaboration with the Head Sommelier.
  • Exposure to wine-list development, stock management and team training.
  • A hands-on role in a respected, wine-driven concept with opportunities to learn and grow.
  • A dynamic and people-focused working environment.
