Junior Sous Chef at Watermans

About the role

Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen. This is a hands-on role for a chef who enjoys working with great produce, cooking with precision and leading a team through a busy service.

Key responsibilities

• Leading the kitchen team during service and ensuring consistently high standards
• Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations
• Maintaining quality, consistency and presentation across the menu
• Contributing to menu development and the evolution of the restaurant
• Managing preparation, ordering, stock control and kitchen organisation
• Training and developing junior members of the team
• Maintaining food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
• Monitoring food quality, waste and kitchen costs
• Ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently in a high-volume service environment

About you

• Previous Junior Sous Chef experience in a quality-driven restaurant, or strong experience as a Senior CDP ready for the next step
• A strong understanding of modern restaurant cooking and high-volume service
• Excellent technical and organisational skills
• The ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on
• A genuine interest in Greek and Mediterranean flavours, produce and cooking techniques
• Strong communication skills and a calm approach under pressure
• High standards and an eye for detail
• A positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the wider team
