What they need
Great pizza. High standards. A kitchen that opens doors.
Pizza Party is a growing social enterprise making seriously good pizza and creating a practical pathway into paid work for autistic young people.
We’re looking for a talented, hands-on Sous Chef with pizza experience, excellent preparation skills and the care to help others learn. Someone who brings creativity to the menu and consistency to every order, whether we’re making dinner for a family at home or serving guests at a supper club.
This is an opportunity to help shape a young food business and build a kitchen where people can do work they’re proud of.
Our kitchen
We operate from a dark kitchen in Kentish Town: a professional production kitchen focused on delivery and collection, rather than a traditional restaurant with a dining room. We also cater for events and host supper clubs.
Delivery is central to our business. Timing, presentation, order accuracy and how well our food travels all matter just as much as how it tastes straight from the oven.
We currently have three autistic trainees joining us for weekly shifts through a supported internship programme. Keeping them engaged, comfortable and learning is an essential part of our work. You’ll help make the kitchen a welcoming, structured environment where each trainee can build skills and confidence at their own pace.
What you’ll do
Deliver brilliant food, consistently
- Support the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining high standards across preparation, service and close-down.
- Bring practical pizza-making experience, including dough preparation and handling, stretching, topping and baking.
- Take real ownership of prep: plan ahead, organise your station and make sure ingredients and components are ready, correctly stored and consistently excellent.
- Execute recipes accurately, with close attention to flavour, portioning, presentation and quality.
- Help develop new pizzas, specials and menu improvements that are exciting, commercially sensible and suited to delivery.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, allergen controls and cleaning standards.
Make every order count
- Work confidently with delivery platforms, including Deliveroo and Uber Eats, managing incoming orders and realistic preparation times.
- Coordinate cooking, packing and rider handovers so orders leave complete, correctly labelled and in the best possible condition.
- Check modifications, dietary requirements, dips and sides with the same care as the pizzas.
- Monitor stock, flag shortages early and minimise waste through good preparation and stock rotation.
Help our trainees thrive
- Train and support our three autistic interns during their weekly shifts, alongside the wider team and programme support staff.
- Break tasks into clear, manageable steps and adapt your communication to individual needs.
- Plan meaningful kitchen tasks that keep trainees involved and help them develop practical skills.
- Be patient, encouraging and attentive to comfort, sensory needs and signs that someone needs a break or a different approach.
- Share feedback on progress and help maintain a respectful, inclusive kitchen culture.
What you’ll bring
- Professional kitchen experience, including strong, hands-on pizza-making experience.
- Experience working with delivery platforms and understanding the demands of delivery-led service.
- Excellent preparation, organisation and time-management skills.
- Great attention to detail and the ability to execute consistently, even when service gets busy.
- Creativity, curiosity and pride in making food people want to order again.
- A calm, practical approach and a willingness to get stuck in.
- Patience, empathy and an interest in helping others develop.
Experience training colleagues or supporting people with different learning needs would be valuable. Previous experience working with autistic people is welcome, but a willingness to listen, learn and adapt is essential.
What we offer
- A salary of £25,000-35,000 per year, depending on experience.
- The opportunity to contribute ideas and help shape a growing food business.
- Varied work across delivery, catering and supper clubs.
- A role where your skills can help create employment opportunities for autistic young people.
