What they need

Full Job Description

The Lime Tree Hotel is a boutique hotel set within a beautifully restored Georgian townhouse in the heart of Belgravia, just moments from the artisan boutiques and cafés of Elizabeth Street.

At the heart of the hotel is The Buttery, our popular neighbourhood café and garden space, serving breakfast, brunch, speciality coffee and seasonal dishes in a relaxed yet elegant setting. Welcoming both hotel guests and local visitors, The Buttery is known for its warm atmosphere, attentive service and beautiful surroundings, including our tranquil Secret Garden.

We are proud to have been included in The Sunday Times Top 100 British Hotels and Condé Nast Traveller’s 10 Best Hotels in London.

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chef de Partie/ Junior Sous Chef to join our small kitchen team at The Buttery.

This position would particularly suit someone with previous breakfast or brunch experience who is confident working in a fast-paced environment. As we have a small team, this is a very hands-on role and you will need to be comfortable working across all areas of the kitchen, including the hot section, cold section, pass and plating.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food, works well as part of a close-knit team and is equally committed to maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen.

This is a great opportunity for a chef looking for more social working hours within a quality boutique hotel and restaurant environment.

Pay & Working Hours

  • £14.00 per hour
  • Good service charge in addition to hourly pay (£3-£5 per hour extra)
  • Predominantly daytime and social working hours
  • Shifts are mainly between 7:00am and 3:30pm
  • Occasional later finishes for private events and special functions
  • Weekend availability is required

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking breakfast and brunch dishes to a consistently high standard
  • Working confidently across the hot and cold sections of the kitchen
  • Managing your section during busy services and ensuring dishes are prepared efficiently and on time
  • Ensuring excellent presentation, portion control and consistency across all dishes
  • Supporting the Head Chef and wider kitchen team with daily preparation and service
  • Assisting with food preparation for private events, group bookings and special functions
  • Following recipes, specifications and presentation standards
  • Ensuring food is stored, labelled and rotated correctly in line with food safety requirements
  • Monitoring stock levels and communicating shortages or requirements to the Head Chef
  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen
  • Completing daily cleaning tasks and supporting the wider team in keeping all kitchen areas clean and safe
  • Following all food hygiene, allergen, health and safety and HACCP procedures
  • Minimising food waste and using ingredients responsibly
  • Working closely with the restaurant team to ensure smooth service and a positive guest experience
  • Supporting colleagues across the kitchen when required and contributing positively to our small team

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Breakfast Chef, Chef de Partie or similar kitchen role
  • Experience working in a busy café, restaurant or hotel environment
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced service and managing a section independently
  • A good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and health and safety
  • Good communication skills and a good level of English
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in food presentation
  • A positive, reliable and hands-on approach
  • The ability to stay organised and calm under pressure
  • A genuine passion for food, hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
  • A strong team mentality and willingness to support colleagues when needed
  • Flexibility to work weekends and occasional later shifts for special events

Experience

  • Previous professional kitchen experience is essential
  • Previous breakfast or brunch experience is highly desirable
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment is preferred
