Junior Technician

About the role

This role involves assisting in daily maintenance and repair of factory machinery, equipment, and facilities in a food processing environment. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and monitor specialised slaughtering and processing equipment to minimise breakdowns and production downtime.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in daily maintenance and repair of factory machinery, equipment, and facilities.

2. Perform preventive maintenance according to the maintenance schedule to minimise machine breakdowns and production downtime.

3. Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and equipment-related issues.

4. Monitor and maintain slaughtering and processing equipment, including conveyors, scalding machines, defeathering machines, evisceration equipment, and chilling systems.

5. Conduct routine inspections to ensure machinery and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.

6. Assist in repairing and replacing faulty machine parts, motors, pumps, belts, bearings, and other components.

7. Support maintenance of refrigeration systems, cold rooms, water supply systems, and factory utilities.

8. Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to minimise disruption to production operations.

9. Maintain proper records of maintenance activities, repairs, breakdowns, and spare parts usage.

10. Ensure all maintenance tools, equipment, and spare parts are properly maintained and stored.

11. Follow workplace safety procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

12. Comply with Halal, GMP, HACCP, food safety, and hygiene requirements during maintenance activities.

13. Coordinate with production personnel to identify equipment issues and support smooth factory operations.

14. Assist external contractors or service providers during machinery servicing, installation, and repair work.

15. Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in maintenance areas and workshops.

16. Report equipment defects, safety hazards, and major maintenance issues to the immediate superior.

17. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment efficiency, reduce breakdowns, and control maintenance costs.

18. Perform any other duties assigned by the Management.

Job Requirements

1. Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

2. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

3. Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance.

4. Willingness to learn and work in a poultry slaughtering and food processing environment.

5. Able to work independently and as part of a team under supervision.

6. Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or public holidays when required.

7. Good troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

8. Physically fit and able to work in wet, cold, and fast-paced factory environments.
