Kai Hononga

About the role

As the Kai Hononga, you will walk alongside whānau, supporting connection, navigation, and access to culturally aligned services. You will lead the development of collaborative pathways across whānau and community partners, uphold the tikanga and wairua of the marae through daily practice, kaupapa support, and wairua leadership, and co-design personalised support plans that reflect whakapapa, mana motuhake, and cultural identity.

Key responsibilities

• Walk alongside whānau, supporting connection, navigation, and access to culturally aligned services.
• Lead the development of collaborative pathways across whānau and community partners.
• Uphold the tikanga and wairua of the marae through daily practice, kaupapa support, and wairua leadership.
• Co-design personalised support plans that reflect whakapapa, mana motuhake, and cultural identity.
• Facilitate and contribute to marae-based wānanga, pōwhiri, and healing spaces.
• Advocate for whānau voice in service systems and support seamless engagement grounded in trust and cultural safety.

About you

• Deep grounding in tikanga Māori, kawa, and wairuatanga.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi, and community partners.
• Experience working in whānau-centred, kaupapa Māori environments.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills — grounded in empathy, clarity, and cultural responsiveness.
• Administration, IT and reporting experience.
• Full, clean NZ Driver Licence required.
• Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand/Aotearoa (Citizenship, Work Visa or NZ Residency).
