Kaiāwhina – Te Taura Here Programme

About the role

To support the Kaihautū to deliver an inspiring and uplifting Te Taura Here programme that will engage rangatahi Māori with employment, education or further industry training skills. To provide meaningful opportunities to rangatahi to build skills, navigate personal barriers and secure long-term employment. The Te Taura Here programme supports Māori aged 15 - 24 years who are not currently engaged in employment, education or training (NEET).

Key responsibilities

• Recruit eligible participants to the programme through a comprehensive onboarding process
• Develop and sustain recruitment initiatives through marketing and social media engagements
• Place participants into education or further training outcomes
• Provide 26 weeks of pastoral care support to participants placed into education and training
• Support the Kaihautū to provide coaching to navigate barriers to engagement or outcomes
• Maintain a strong network of NGO's, education and training providers to offer opportunities
• Report deliverables and outcomes to the Kaihautū and/or MSD as required
• Conduct screening and in-person interviews
• Ensure accurate, up to date and complete documentation
• Maintain contact to ensure participants feel supported in their placement

About you

• Formal learning or work experience equivalent
• Whakapapa Māori
• Te reo me ōna tikanga
• Experience working with Rangatahi Māori, or NEET
• Excellent relationship management skills
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Digital skills and social media competency
• First Aid
• Police Vetted/Ministry of Justice check
