Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kennel/Veterinary Technician Assistant to support our veterinary team in delivering exceptional animal care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent handling skills, and the ability to perform a variety of technical and support duties within a busy veterinary setting. This paid position offers an opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to the health and happiness of our animal patients.

Duties

• Assist with animal handling, restraint, and pet care to ensure safety and comfort during examinations and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites by performing thorough cleaning and sanitation tasks in accordance with aseptic techniques.
• Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, medication administration, and laboratory sample collection.
• Record keeping of patient information, treatments, medications, and procedures accurately within the clinic’s management system.
• Help manage intake and discharge processes at the front desk, including client communication and appointment scheduling.
• Monitor animal behavior and welfare, providing basic husbandry care such as feeding, bathing, and grooming.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of medical supplies, PPE (personal protective equipment), medications, and other clinic essentials.

Requirements

• Prior kennel experience or animal handling background is essential; veterinary technician or assistant experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and behavior is required.
• Experience with surgical support tasks such as aseptic technique, IV insertion, medication administration, and laboratory procedures is desirable.
• Strong skills in animal restraint, pet care practices, and client communication are necessary for success in this role.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Familiarity with veterinary clinic operations including record keeping and laboratory work is advantageous.
• Commitment to animal welfare, safety protocols, and proper use of PPE throughout all duties.
