Kerbing Machine Operator | Career Pathway to Supervisor

Ready to take the next step in your civil construction career?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established civil construction contractor seeking an experienced Kerbing Machine Operator to join their growing specialist kerbing team.

This is more than just an operator role. We're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career, with a clear pathway into a Leading Hand, Supervisor, and Senior Kerbing Supervisor position. You'll work alongside experienced industry professionals, gain exposure to project planning and leadership responsibilities, and develop the skills required to lead a specialist crew in the future.

The Opportunity

As a Kerbing Machine Operator, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining kerbing equipment while working closely with a skilled crew delivering high-quality kerb and channel works across a range of civil, roading, infrastructure, and commercial projects.

As your experience grows, you'll be supported and mentored into leadership responsibilities, including crew coordination, project planning, quality assurance, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate slipform and extruded kerb machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with kerb and channel placement, finishing, and quality control.
  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, levels, and site requirements.
  • Conduct daily machine inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Ensure all works are completed to programme, specification, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with supervisors and crew members to achieve production targets.
  • Promote a strong culture of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
  • Support site planning and logistics activities as required.
  • Build positive relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Travel to projects throughout New Zealand when required.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience operating kerbing machinery or working within a specialist kerbing crew.
  • Experience with concrete placement, finishing, and kerbing operations.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practice.
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • WTR endorsements and Class 2 Licence highly regarded.

What's On Offer

  • Competitive remuneration package based on experience.
  • Secure, long-term employment with a strong project pipeline.
  • Structured training and leadership development.
  • Clear progression pathway into supervisory and senior leadership roles.
  • Supportive and high-performing team environment.
  • Modern equipment and ongoing investment in people.
  • Opportunities to work on major infrastructure and civil construction projects.
  • Travel and accommodation provided for out-of-town work where applicable.
  • Performance-based incentives and career advancement opportunities.
