Position Overview
The Key Account Manager is the commercial partner for Carr Lane’s key accounts. These accounts are typically national, multi-location, and governed by special pricing: Aerospace and Space OEMs, their Tier-1 suppliers, and National Distribution partners. The Key Account Manager assists with pricing, quoting, managing orders, and administering agreements while partnering with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Production, and accounting teams. This person will visit customers, with domestic and international travel, up to 25-50%.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Ownership
Serve as the senior commercial contact for assigned key accounts.
Partner with internal teams to prepare, price, and manage quotes, RFQ responses, and special or modified product requests.
Manage order flow for key accounts, and act as the escalation point for Customer Service on complex orders, expedites, and delivery questions.
Own the lifecycle of key account agreements: long-term agreements, pricing agreements, supplier registrations, renewals, and price adjustments. Maintain a contract register and verify that pricing in our systems matches what each agreement says.
Review customer terms, flow-downs, and NDAs, and route legal, export-control, and finance questions to the right owner.
Manage corporate relationship for national distribution accounts: oversee performance, report on results against agreements and plan, manage contract pricing, and identify opportunities across the distributor’s locations.
Partner with the Regional Sales Managers on national distribution accounts.
Growth through support
Utilize account history and day-to-day requests to identify growth opportunities: products not yet bought, programs and sites not yet reached, and pricing.
Lead regular account reviews with key customer contacts and prepare account plans.
Specification support
Develop relationships with the design, tooling, and manufacturing engineers who specify Carr Lane products, primarily through introductions from customer contacts and responsive support, not cold outreach.
Support designers with product selection, application guidance, and custom or modified products, working with Carr Lane Engineering. Host virtual product sessions and join design reviews.
Visit customer facilities, including ITAR-controlled sites, to see how Carr Lane products are used, what the customer builds, and what opportunities exist.
Leads and customer recovery
Organize and execute follow-up on inbound leads: qualify, route, respond within target times, and keep CRM records current.
Lead escalated or at-risk customer issues as needed through resolution.

5+ years of industrial sales, key account management, inside sales, or contract administration experience
