What they need
About CaterSpot
CaterSpot is a leading corporate food and workplace dining platform, helping companies manage everything from daily employee meals and catering to pantry management and workplace food programs.
We are now launching CaterSpot in Japan and are building our founding local team in Tokyo.
As one of the first employees in Japan, you will have the opportunity to help shape how CaterSpot operates, serves clients, works with food partners and grows in the Japanese market.
The Role
We are looking for a Key Account Manager
to join our founding Japan team.
Your long-term mission will be to manage and grow a portfolio of CaterSpot's key corporate clients across daily meal programs, recurring food programs and pantry management contracts
.
You will be responsible for designing high-quality food programs, coordinating closely with restaurant, catering and pantry partners, ensuring smooth day-to-day execution and, most importantly, keeping our clients happy and retained.
However, during our first 3–6 months in Japan
, this will be a broader launch role.
You will work side-by-side with our Country Manager and wider regional team to help establish CaterSpot in Japan. This means being comfortable wearing multiple hats and stepping into whatever is most important to successfully launch the market.
Over time, as the business grows and our Japan team expands, the role will progressively become focused on Key Account Management, Meal Program Management and Pantry Management
.
What You Will Do
1. Key Account Management & Client Retention
- Own relationships with a portfolio of corporate clients using CaterSpot for recurring meal programs, pantry management and other workplace food services.
- Become a trusted point of contact for clients and deeply understand their budgets, employee preferences, dietary requirements, pantry needs and workplace requirements.
- Ensure consistently high client satisfaction and build long-term relationships.
- Proactively identify issues, opportunities and improvements before they are raised by the client.
- Manage renewals, retention and expansion opportunities across your portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts across meals, pantry, events and other CaterSpot services.
- Conduct regular client reviews and recommend improvements based on usage, employee feedback, budget and program performance.
2. Meal Program Planning
- Design exciting and varied weekly and monthly meal programs for corporate clients.
- Build vendor rotations that balance food quality, cuisine variety, dietary needs, employee preferences and client budgets.
- Continuously refresh meal programs so employees remain engaged and excited about the food.
- Review client feedback, ordering patterns and program performance to improve future menus.
- Work with vendors to develop suitable menus and food concepts specifically for corporate meal programs.
3. Pantry Management
- Manage corporate pantry programs, including snacks, beverages and other workplace pantry requirements.
- Work with clients to understand pantry budgets, employee preferences, consumption patterns and desired product assortment.
- Develop and continuously improve pantry product selections and rotations.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors on sourcing, pricing, availability and delivery schedules.
- Review pantry consumption and spend to ensure programs remain within budget while maintaining employee satisfaction.
- Recommend new products and optimize product mix based on consumption trends and client feedback.
- Coordinate pantry replenishment, servicing and onsite requirements where applicable.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste and enhance the overall workplace pantry experience.
4. Vendor & Supplier Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with restaurants, caterers, pantry suppliers and other food partners.
- Coordinate menus, products, pricing, availability, dietary requirements and operational expectations.
- Work with partners to improve quality and reliability where needed.
- Help identify and onboard new food and pantry partners where there are gaps in client programs.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to create tailored solutions for CaterSpot clients.
5. Program Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day execution of recurring meal and pantry programs.
- Coordinate closely with vendors, suppliers, logistics partners and CaterSpot's operations team to ensure reliable service.
- Troubleshoot operational issues quickly and communicate clearly with clients.
- Help establish operating processes and service standards for CaterSpot Japan.
- Ensure client expectations, vendor commitments and internal operational requirements remain aligned.
During the Launch Phase
As employee #2 in Japan
, your responsibilities during the first 3–6 months will extend beyond traditional account management.
You will work closely with the Country Manager and may support areas including:
- Vendor and supplier acquisition
- Restaurant, catering and pantry partner onboarding
- Client onboarding
- Meal program setup
- Pantry program setup
- Order and delivery coordination
- Customer support
- Operational troubleshooting
- Vendor and client content or materials
- Market research
- Testing and improving local processes
- Supporting new business opportunities
- Supporting client presentations and proposals
- Other initiatives required to successfully establish CaterSpot Japan
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys building things from the ground up and is comfortable switching between strategy, client relationships and hands-on execution.
As CaterSpot Japan grows and additional team members are hired, these launch responsibilities will gradually transition to dedicated functions.
What We're Looking For
Experience in Key Account Management, Account Management, Customer Success, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Catering, Workplace Services, Office Pantry Management or a related field
.
Strong relationship-building skills and genuine enjoyment of working with clients.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple clients, vendors, suppliers and projects simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and a high standard for service quality.
Commercial mindset with an understanding of client retention and account growth.
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where processes are still being built.
Resourceful and willing to solve problems directly rather than waiting for someone else to solve them.
Strong interest in food, restaurants, hospitality and workplace experience.
Comfortable working closely with restaurant, catering and pantry suppliers.
Native or business-level Japanese
and strong English communication skills
.
Able to communicate effectively with both Japanese clients and CaterSpot's regional team.
You Will Thrive in This Role If You
- Enjoy being part of an early-stage team.
- Like having ownership rather than narrowly defined responsibilities.
- Are equally comfortable meeting a corporate client, speaking with a restaurant or pantry supplier and solving an operational problem.
- Have strong taste and judgment when it comes to food and workplace experience.
- Care deeply about delivering an excellent service.
- Enjoy creating structure where processes do not yet exist.
- Are analytical enough to look at budgets, consumption and client feedback and turn them into better programs.
- Want the opportunity to help build a market rather than simply inherit an existing portfolio.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, success means helping the Country Manager establish a strong operational foundation for CaterSpot Japan, successfully launch our first clients and build strong relationships with local food and pantry partners.
As the business develops, your focus will increasingly shift toward building and managing an exceptional portfolio of recurring meal and pantry programs
, with success measured by:
- High client satisfaction
- Strong client retention
- Reliable program execution
- High-quality and varied meal programs
- Well-managed and engaging pantry programs
- Strong vendor and supplier relationships
- Effective management of client budgets
- Growth of existing accounts
- Increasing employee engagement with CaterSpot food and pantry programs
Why Join CaterSpot Japan

You will have significant ownership, exposure to multiple areas of the business and the opportunity to directly influence how CaterSpot operates in Japan.
As the business grows, you will also have the opportunity to grow with it and become a core member of the CaterSpot Japan organization.
