Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The main responsibilities of this role will include washing dishes, kitchen equipment, and utensils, keeping the kitchen and washing-up areas clean and organised, and supporting the kitchen team with small food preparation tasks when required.

The successful candidate will help ensure the kitchen operates smoothly by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene and assisting the chef and other kitchen staff as needed. Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment efficiently and ensure they are properly cleaned and stored.
• Keep the washing-up area and kitchen clean, tidy, and organised throughout the shift.
• Clean and sanitise work surfaces, floors, equipment, and other kitchen areas as required.
• Dispose of waste appropriately and help maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety.
• Assist the kitchen team with small food preparation tasks when needed, such as washing, peeling, chopping, or preparing basic ingredients.
• Help with simple food assembly and preparation as directed by the chef or supervisor.
• Restock kitchen supplies and ingredients when required.
• Support the chef and kitchen team during busy periods with general kitchen duties.
• Follow all food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
• Carry out other reasonable kitchen duties as directed by the head chef or supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a kitchen, restaurant, café, or catering environment is preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to wash dishes and undertake cleaning duties as a key part of the role.
• Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety is beneficial.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy and fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
• Positive attitude and willingness to help with different kitchen tasks when required.
• Good communication and organisational skills.

Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
