Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary

Original Pancake House is seeking a dependable and motivated Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, organize ingredients and supplies, maintain clean workstations, and help the kitchen team prepare breakfast and brunch dishes efficiently. This role is suited to someone who enjoys teamwork and working in a busy restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks with preparing ingredients and assembling menu items.
• Wash, peel, cut, and portion ingredients according to instructions.
• Organize and restock kitchen stations before and during service.
• Help prepare ingredients for pancakes, eggs, breakfast dishes, and other menu items.
• Maintain clean countertops, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils when needed.
• Store ingredients properly and help rotate food supplies.
• Remove trash and keep kitchen floors and work areas clean.
• Assist with opening, closing, and routine cleaning duties.
• Communicate with cooks and supervisors to support smooth kitchen operations.
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn food preparation techniques and kitchen procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well with a team.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, food quality, and safety.
• Reliable attendance and a positive work attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently during busy breakfast and brunch service.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely handle kitchen supplies.
• Flexible availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
