Job Summary

Duties

• Assist with food preparation, including slicing, chopping, and assembling ingredients following recipe guidelines and safety standards
• Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, fryers, and dishwashers safely and efficiently
• Support menu planning by preparing ingredients needed for daily meals and special catering events
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen appliances through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
• Follow food handling procedures to ensure safety and prevent cross-contamination during meal production
• Help with food service activities by plating dishes, setting up serving areas, and assisting with meal distribution
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks, relay special dietary requests, and ensure smooth kitchen operations

Experience

• Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
• Experience working in food service environments such as restaurants or catering settings is preferred
• Knowledge of food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments is essential
• Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation techniques demonstrates strong culinary competence
• Skills in operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently are required
• Experience with knife skills, slicing techniques, and food handling procedures enhances your effectiveness in this role
• Prior roles involving cleaning responsibilities or maintaining hygiene standards contribute to success as a Kitchen Assistant

Pay: $9.00 - $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
