Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary

Talespin Pizza is seeking a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations and help the team prepare and serve food efficiently. The ideal candidate will be organized, attentive to cleanliness, and willing to assist cooks and other kitchen team members in a busy restaurant environment.

The Kitchen Assistant will help prepare ingredients, organize kitchen supplies, maintain clean work areas, and support food preparation during service hours. This role is suitable for someone who enjoys teamwork and is interested in gaining experience in restaurant kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist kitchen staff with daily food preparation tasks.
• Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients as directed.
• Prepare and organize pizza toppings, sauces, vegetables, and other ingredients.
• Restock kitchen supplies and keep ingredients properly stored.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations, counters, and preparation areas.
• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment when needed.
• Follow food-safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
• Check ingredient freshness and report low or missing supplies.
• Help receive and organize food deliveries.
• Support cooks during busy service periods to keep orders moving efficiently.
• Dispose of waste properly and follow kitchen cleaning procedures.
• Follow instructions from the kitchen manager and other supervisors.
• Assist with additional kitchen duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous kitchen, restaurant, or food-preparation experience is helpful but may not be required.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well with a team.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and organization.
• Reliable attendance and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies as required.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends when needed.
