Job Description:

Part-Time Kitchen Assistant / Prep Cook

Initial hours: 1 full day per week, half day dueing the week and full week potantial on holiday seasons.

Working days: Sundays initially, half day Mondays and additional days in the near future.

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our small team. This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys cooking, baking and preparing beautiful food, and who would love to bring their skills into a professional café kitchen.

The role will initially start with one day per week, primarily on Sundays. As we develop our Sunday breakfast menu and expand our food offering, there will be an opportunity to increase working days and hours.

You will help prepare our homemade cakes, baked goods and food for the week, as well as preparing and serving our Sunday breakfast menu. We are looking for someone with a good understanding of home cooking, a practical approach to food preparation and an eye for presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and baking homemade cakes, loaves and other sweet treats.
• Preparing ingredients, sauces, fillings and other components for our weekly food menu.
• Preparing fresh Turkish and Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
• Cooking and plating Sunday breakfast dishes, including poached eggs and other egg dishes.
• Presenting food beautifully, with attention to detail and consistency.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen.
• Following food safety procedures and safe food-handling practices.
• Managing preparation tasks efficiently and taking pride in the quality of the food.

What We Are Looking For

• Someone who genuinely loves cooking and baking and has a natural talent for preparing food.
• Good practical cooking skills, whether gained at home or in a professional kitchen.
• Confidence in preparing eggs, including poached eggs, and assembling attractive breakfast plates.
• An interest in Turkish, Mediterranean or Middle Eastern cuisine would be a real advantage.
• A reliable, organised person who can work independently and manage their time well.
• Someone who takes pride in homemade food, fresh ingredients and presentation.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop with our business.

Professional kitchen experience is welcome, but we are also interested in talented home cooks who are ready to take the next step and develop their skills in a café environment.
