Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting meal preparation and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals with a passion for food and a desire to learn within a fast-paced environment. Experience in catering or restaurant settings is advantageous, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients for cooking.
• Help cooks with various tasks during food preparation and service.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
• Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly.
• Support the catering team during events by setting up and serving food as required.
• Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies and report any shortages to management.
• Follow instructions from chefs and kitchen supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment is preferred but not mandatory.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new skills related to meal preparation and cooking techniques.
