2 many Wines is an independent wine bar, bottle shop and kitchen located on York’s vibrant Bishopthorpe Road. We’re passionate about great wines, tasty food and creating a welcoming atmosphere where people can relax, enjoy themselves and share good times.

Our kitchen serves a carefully curated selection of Italian-inspired dishes, brunch favourites and seasonal specials. We’re growing our food offering and looking for a reliable, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team and help us keep the kitchen running smoothly.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in their work and wants to gain experience and develop their skills in a friendly, professional kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting the chefs with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping and measuring ingredients.
• Supporting the preparation and assembly of dishes under the guidance of the Chef.
• Helping with food deliveries, stock organisation, labelling and rotation.
• Following food safety procedures and health and safety regulations at all times.
• Supporting the kitchen during busy services to ensure everything runs smoothly.
• Helping with stock checks and replenishment when required.
• Working closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver great food and service to our customers.
• Washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment, keeping the washing-up area organised and efficient.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, workstations and storage areas.
• Supporting the front-of-house team in keeping the venue clean, tidy and welcoming for customers, including clearing areas and helping maintain high standards of presentation.

An interest in food and a desire to learn and develop kitchen skills.

Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or hospitality environment is an advantage, but it’s not essential. We’re happy to consider someone with the right attitude and enthusiasm who is keen to learn.
