Kitchen Assistant

Cork2Glass Wine Bar & Retail is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Part-Time Kitchen Assistant to join our team.

We are a locally owned neighborhood wine bar offering a curated selection of wines, small plates, and a welcoming atmosphere. The ideal candidate will assist with basic cooking, food preparation, plating, dishwashing, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, including chopping, slicing, portioning, and assembling ingredients.
• Prepare and cook simple menu items following established recipes and instructions.
• Assist with plating and presentation of appetizers, cheese boards, flatbreads, and other small plates.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, wine glasses, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dishwashing areas.
• Safely operate basic kitchen equipment, including ovens, microwaves, and food preparation tools.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety procedures.
• Assist with stocking ingredients, organizing supplies, and maintaining inventory.
• Empty trash, clean countertops, and maintain kitchen floors and equipment.
• Support the kitchen and service teams during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen assistant, food preparation, or restaurant experience preferred.
• Basic cooking skills and familiarity with food preparation techniques required.
• Ability to follow recipes and food preparation instructions.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and food safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Texas Food Handler certification preferred, or willingness to obtain one.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
