Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary

Cafe Americano is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and organized Kitchen Assistant to support daily kitchen operations at its Miami location. The ideal candidate will assist cooks with food preparation, keep kitchen workstations clean, organize ingredients, and help maintain efficient food service. This position is suitable for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced restaurant environment and takes pride in food quality, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist cooks and chefs with basic food preparation tasks.
• Wash, peel, cut, and portion vegetables and other ingredients as directed.
• Organize ingredients and kitchen supplies for daily service.
• Keep preparation areas, countertops, and equipment clean and sanitary.
• Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools as needed.
• Store food properly and follow labeling and rotation procedures.
• Help receive and organize deliveries and kitchen inventory.
• Follow food safety guidelines and proper personal hygiene practices.
• Replenish ingredients and notify supervisors when supplies are running low.
• Support kitchen staff during busy meal periods.
• Assist with opening, closing, and general cleaning duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous kitchen, food preparation, or restaurant experience is preferred but not always required.
• Basic understanding of kitchen cleanliness and food safety.
• Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with a team.
• Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Reliable attendance and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies when necessary.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
