Kitchen Assistant / Culinary Apprentice

Mangia Mi Fresh Pasta & Wine Bar in Sandy Hook, CT is looking for a Kitchen Assistant / Culinary Apprentice to work directly alongside our Chef/Owner.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in learning the restaurant business and gaining real, hands-on kitchen experience. Previous professional kitchen experience is not required. We are happy to train the right person.

We are a small, busy Italian restaurant focused on fresh ingredients, house-made food and a scratch kitchen. This position will work closely with our Chef/Owner and assist with the daily setup, operation and breakdown of the kitchen.

Responsibilities include:

• Helping set up the kitchen before service
• Basic food preparation
• Stocking and organizing the line
• Assisting the chef and kitchen team during service
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area
• Helping with end-of-night kitchen breakdown and cleanup
• Learning proper food preparation, organization and kitchen techniques
• Pitching in wherever needed during a busy service

You should be dependable, hardworking, organized, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and genuinely interested in learning. This could be an excellent first restaurant job for a culinary student, high school or college student, recent graduate, or someone who simply loves cooking and wants to learn.

You’ll have the opportunity to work directly alongside an experienced Chef/Owner and learn how a real independent restaurant kitchen operates.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
