Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant / Domestic Assistant to join our care home team on a full-time basis.

This varied role combines kitchen and cleaning duties, helping to provide enjoyable, nutritious meals and maintain a clean, comfortable and welcoming home for our residents. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, have good attention to detail and enjoy working as part of a team.

Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with preparing, cooking and serving meals and snacks, following planned menus and instructions from the cook.
• Following residents’ dietary requirements, including food allergies, special diets and any required changes to food texture.
• Washing dishes and utensils, cleaning kitchen equipment and keeping work surfaces hygienic.
• Storing food correctly, checking expiry dates, rotating stock and reporting shortages.
• Cleaning residents’ bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping and sanitising surfaces.
• Keeping the home tidy and presentable while respecting residents’ privacy and dignity.
• Using and storing cleaning products and equipment safely.
• Reporting maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
• Following the home’s food hygiene, infection prevention and health and safety procedures.

Experience

Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or domestic cleaning role is preferred, but is not essential. We welcome applicants who are willing to learn and develop their skills.
