Job Purpose

The Kitchen Helper supports the kitchen team with food preparation, cleaning, organization, and general kitchen duties. The role ensures the kitchen remains clean, organized, hygienic, and ready for daily restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and food preparation areas.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food supplies and other kitchen materials.
• Properly organize food items and supplies in refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving kitchen supplies when required.
• Dispose of food waste and garbage properly according to company procedures.
• Ensure kitchen tools and equipment are returned to their proper places after use.
• Assist the kitchen team during busy periods to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Follow food safety, health, and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Report damaged equipment, expired food, shortages, or other kitchen issues to the supervisor.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Chef or Management.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, catering, or commercial kitchen is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Responsible, punctual, hardworking, and reliable.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good personal hygiene and a positive attitude.

General Requirement

The Kitchen Helper is expected to follow all company policies, food safety procedures, health and safety requirements, and reasonable instructions given by Management.
