Kitchen Helper

Job Summary

City Restaurant is looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to support the kitchen team with daily preparation, cleaning, and general kitchen duties. The successful candidate will help maintain an efficient, clean, and organised kitchen while supporting chefs during busy service periods.

Job Description

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with daily food preparation.
• Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion ingredients as required.
• Help prepare ingredients, sauces, garnishes, and other kitchen items.
• Keep kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and organised.
• Assist with washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Receive, store, and rotate food supplies when required.
• Check ingredients for freshness and report any quality concerns.
• Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and sanitation procedures.
• Help maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise food waste.
• Support chefs during busy service periods.
• Assist with kitchen opening, closing, and cleaning duties.
• Complete other general kitchen tasks as directed by the kitchen team.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen, restaurant, or food service experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food preparation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and organisation.
• Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider kitchen team.

Pay: £14.00-£26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
