Kitchen Helper

Joe’s on Newbury is seeking a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to support daily kitchen operations and assist the food preparation team. This role involves preparing ingredients, organizing kitchen supplies, helping assemble food orders, and maintaining clean and sanitary work areas. The ideal candidate is reliable, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a busy restaurant kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and routine kitchen tasks.
• Wash, peel, cut, and organize ingredients as directed by kitchen staff.
• Prepare ingredients and supplies for daily food service.
• Help assemble food orders accurately and efficiently.
• Follow recipe instructions and established food-quality standards.
• Keep kitchen workstations, counters, and preparation areas clean and organized.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Restock ingredients, containers, packaging, and kitchen supplies.
• Assist cooks and kitchen team members during busy service periods.
• Help receive, store, and organize food supplies according to established procedures.
• Follow food-safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and workplace safety guidelines.
• Assist with opening, closing, and routine kitchen cleaning duties.
• Communicate supply needs and kitchen concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Work cooperatively with kitchen and restaurant staff to maintain smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen, restaurant, café, or food-service experience is helpful but not always required.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and organization.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Willingness to learn food-preparation procedures and kitchen standards.
• Able to perform routine kitchen duties throughout the shift.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
