Kitchen Helper

State Street Provisions is seeking a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to support daily kitchen operations and assist the culinary team with food preparation, cleaning, and routine kitchen tasks. This role involves preparing ingredients, organizing supplies, maintaining clean workstations, and helping the kitchen team provide timely and consistent service. The ideal candidate is reliable, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and routine kitchen tasks.
• Wash, peel, cut, and organize ingredients as directed.
• Prepare ingredients and supplies for daily service.
• Help assemble food orders and maintain order accuracy.
• Keep kitchen workstations, counters, and preparation areas clean and organized.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Restock ingredients, food containers, and kitchen supplies.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food deliveries.
• Remove trash and maintain proper cleanliness throughout the shift.
• Communicate supply needs and kitchen concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Follow food-safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with opening, closing, and routine kitchen cleaning duties.
• Work cooperatively with cooks, dishwashers, and other restaurant team members.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen, restaurant, café, or food-service experience is helpful but not required.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Willingness to learn food-preparation procedures and kitchen standards.
• Able to perform routine kitchen duties throughout a shift.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
