Job Summary

Café Bastille Downtown Miami is seeking a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to support its culinary team with ingredient preparation, kitchen organization, and sanitation. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a busy breakfast and brunch environment, follows instructions carefully, and helps cooks maintain consistent food quality and efficient service.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion ingredients for daily menu preparation.
• Assist cooks with preparing ingredients for breakfast, brunch, sandwiches, salads, and other café dishes.
• Organize food supplies and prepare kitchen stations before service.
• Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and food preparation equipment as needed.
• Label, date, and store ingredients according to food safety procedures.
• Maintain clean countertops, floors, storage areas, and workstations.
• Restock ingredients and notify supervisors when supplies run low.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and rotating inventory.
• Support kitchen staff during busy service periods to ensure orders are prepared efficiently.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen, food preparation, or restaurant experience is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of kitchen cleanliness and safe food handling.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete preparation tasks accurately.
• Strong teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced breakfast and brunch environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift kitchen supplies.
• Availability for early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Duties

• Prepare ingredients and stock assigned kitchen stations.
• Assist cooks with food preparation according to daily requirements.
• Keep utensils, equipment, and preparation surfaces clean and sanitized.
• Help organize deliveries and maintain proper ingredient storage.
• Replenish supplies during service.
• Complete opening, closing, dishwashing, and cleaning duties as assigned.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
