Kitchen Helper - Commis Chef

The Kitchen Commis supports daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring all ingredients and workstations are ready for service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, portioning, and storing food in a timely and efficient manner
• Assist in food preparation and cooking according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines
• Ensure all items are prepped and ready before service
• Replenish service lines and restock workstations as needed
• Prepare and organize workstations for the next shift
• Monitor inventory and stock levels and inform supervisors when supplies are low
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen work areas
• Wash and sanitize kitchen surfaces, utensils, knives, and equipment
• Clean floors, walls, and cooking stations regularly
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in restaurant or hospitality operations
• Good teamwork and ability to follow instructions
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Well-groomed, professional, and service-oriented
• Able to communicate in English and/or Bahasa Malaysia
• Valid typhoid vaccination and food handling certification
