Kitchen Helper / Dishwasher

Job Overview

We are looking for a professional who can do dishes (have a dishwashing machine), prep food and eventually with training become a line cook. We make food from scratch at our South Indian Restaurant. We would love to get folks who are meticulous, clean and can learn fast.

Responsibilities

• Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment efficiently to support daily kitchen operations
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients under supervision
• Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas in accordance with sanitation standards
• Support food safety sanitizing procedures to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations
• Buss tables and clear dining areas promptly to facilitate smooth service flow
• Handle manual tasks including heavy lifting of supplies and equipment safely following proper ergonomic techniques
• Operate kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, sinks, and food prep tools with care and adherence to safety protocols

Skills

• Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety management practices
• Experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred; familiarity with banquet or catering settings is a plus
• Strong cleaning skills with an understanding of sanitation standards and hygiene protocols
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including lifting heavy items regularly
• Basic knife skills for assisting with food prep tasks when needed
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment responsibly while following health and safety standards
• Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
• Prior experience in dishwashing or kitchen sanitation roles is advantageous

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
