Mai Thai Restaurant is hiring a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Helper / Food Prep / Dishwasher to join our kitchen team.

We are looking for someone dependable, willing to learn, and interested in a long-term position. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.

Schedule

• Full-Time or Part-Time
• Approximately 20–40 hours per week
• All scheduled workdays are full-day shifts of approximately 10 working hours
• Part-Time: 2–3 full-day shifts per week
• Full-Time: 4 full-day shifts per week
• Wednesday and Sunday availability is strongly preferred
• Additional availability on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday is a plus

Typical Shift

• Monday–Saturday: approximately 10:00 AM–9:00 PM, including a meal break
• Sunday: approximately 10:30 AM–9:00 PM, including a meal break
• Restaurant last order is at 8:30 PM

Pay

• Starting at $17.00 per hour
• Paid training
• Pay may be reviewed based on performance, reliability, attendance, experience, and additional skills learned over time

Primary Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, utensils, kitchen tools, and cooking equipment
• Keep the dishwashing area clean, organized, and safe
• Assist with daily food preparation before and during service
• Prepare and portion chicken, beef, pork, and other ingredients according to restaurant procedures
• Wash, cut, portion, and organize vegetables and other ingredients
• Help prepare appetizer items such as spring rolls, chicken satay, and other kitchen prep items
• Refill and organize food prep items and kitchen supplies
• Clean prep tables, sinks, floors, trash areas, and kitchen work areas
• Take out trash and help maintain a clean kitchen environment
• Receive and organize food deliveries when needed
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and restaurant procedures
• Help with opening and closing kitchen duties

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Reliable transportation to Orange, CT required
• Dependable, punctual, hardworking, and responsible
• Able to stand for extended periods
• Able to lift and carry kitchen supplies as needed
• Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Basic English communication preferred
• Previous restaurant, food prep, or dishwashing experience preferred, but not required
• Interest in Thai food, Asian food, or restaurant kitchen work is a plus

Training & Growth

Paid training is provided.

This position starts with food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, and kitchen support. Training will include restaurant prep procedures for meat, vegetables, appetizers, and other ingredients.

Reliable long-term team members who are interested in learning more may have opportunities to train in additional kitchen positions, such as the appetizer station or other kitchen roles.

Additional responsibilities and pay may be reviewed as skills develop and based on business needs.
