Duties

• Assist in food preparation tasks, including slicing ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques to ensure precision and safety
• Support the sushi chef in assembling and plating sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, rice cookers, and other culinary tools
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen by cleaning workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly to meet food safety standards
• Follow food handling procedures meticulously to ensure hygiene and prevent cross-contamination during meal prep
• Help with general kitchen duties such as organizing ingredients, restocking supplies, and assisting with meal assembly
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks, ensure smooth workflow, and uphold safety standards in production

Experience

• Prior experience working in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
• Previous restaurant or food service experience demonstrating knowledge of food industry practices is preferred
• Experience with menu planning, food preparation, cooking, and operating kitchen equipment will be advantageous
• Familiarity with safety standards in production environments and food safety management practices is important
• Catering experience or culinary background that includes recipe adherence and meal preparation will strengthen your application
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff are essential
• Knowledge of food handling techniques, knife skills, slicing methods, and food safety protocols is required for success in this role
