Kitchen Helper/Server

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Kitchen Helper/Server to join our restaurant team. This role involves supporting African food preparation, assisting with meal service, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service, excellent customer interaction skills, and a strong understanding of food safety standards. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the food industry while contributing to a positive dining experience for our guests.

Duties

• Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas
• Package take-out food
• Portion and wrap foods
• Prepare, heat and finish simple African food items
• Take customers' orders
• Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
• Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
• Remove kitchen garbage and trash
• Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
• Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit

Requirements

• Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environment is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of African food preparation, safety standards, and meal preparation techniques
• Strong serving skills with excellent customer service abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Basic cooking skills and familiarity with food industry practices are advantageous
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads as needed
• Food safety certification or willingness to obtain certification is a plus

Pay: $16.50 per hour
