Kitchen Hood Suppression Technician

Summary

Responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of commercial kitchen hood fire suppression systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards; works independently and as part of a service team to support customer safety, regulatory compliance, and company service commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Inspect, test, service, and maintain kitchen hood fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 17A, manufacturer requirements, and local fire codes.
• Perform system installations, repairs, and upgrades as needed.
• Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and deficiency notices accurately and timely.
• Coordinate with customers, fire marshals, and internal scheduling teams to ensure successful service delivery.
• Maintain service vehicles, tools, and inventory in accordance with company standards.
• Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and safe work practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours service as required.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma and 2-5 years’ experience servicing kitchen hood suppression systems or related fire protection systems preferred; Pre-engineered Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems Permit and Portable Fire Extinguisher Permit preferred; manufacturer certifications (e.g., Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Kidde) preferred; knowledge of NFPA 17A and applicable local codes preferred.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office applications; ability to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications and email.
