This is a hands-on management role. You'll take ownership of the kitchen, lead your team and ensure residents enjoy nutritious, appetising meals that meet their individual needs and preferences.

What does the role involve?

You'll lead the kitchen team, combining hands-on cooking with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the catering function.

You'll:

• Plan, prepare and deliver nutritious, appealing meals, developing varied menus that reflect residents' needs and preferences
• Lead and develop the kitchen team, organising rotas, allocating responsibilities and maintaining high standards
• Cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies and texture-modified diets (IDDSI), working closely with the nursing and care teams
• Manage food ordering, stock control and waste, maintaining quality while working within an agreed budget
• Ensure high standards of food hygiene, safety and compliance, including HACCP, and maintain accurate kitchen records
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised, safe and inspection-ready
• Act on residents' feedback to continually improve the quality, variety and presentation of meals

This isn't a desk-based management role. We're looking for someone who can lead the kitchen confidently but is equally comfortable cooking, supporting colleagues and getting involved wherever needed.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who combines strong cooking skills with the organisation and ownership needed to run a kitchen properly.

You'll bring:

• Experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, Catering Manager or experienced Sous Chef ready to take the next step
• Experience leading or supervising a kitchen team
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, safety and kitchen compliance
• Confidence managing menus, purchasing, stock and food costs
• A well-organised, proactive approach, with pride in the quality of your food and the standards of your kitchen

Experience in a care home, hospital or other healthcare setting would be valuable, but isn't essential. We'll support the right candidate in developing their understanding of specialist dietary requirements.
