Kitchen Manager

MISSION:

In collaboration with our community, Head Start will provide a safe, high-quality environment that educates and empowers our children and families to be successful, self-advocates throughout their lives.

Work Schedule:

M-TH 7-4:30, Full Time, Part-year. Some flexibility may be required with after hour activities.

Objective:

To manage all aspects of the kitchen and USDA programs in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices in nutrition for seniors and children.

Responsibilities:

• Plans, prepares, and serves the prepared menu in the prescribed manner and as scheduled for children and seniors.
• Work cooperatively with all staff.
• Completes, accurately and timely, all paperwork.
• Assures the successful day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
• Follows guidance to make kitchen purchases and keeps accurate records.
• Complete all tasks in a manner consistent with the regulations, rules, policies, practices, and instructions.
• Maintains a clean kitchen.
• Seeks support from supervisor as needed.
• Completes additional tasks as needed and/or as instructed.
• Obtain and maintain SERV Safe Manager Certification
• Observe and follow all Health Department rules concerning sanitary food service
• Manages all aspects of the USDA CACFP.
• Develops menus for approval by dietician, orders food and facilitates record keeping.
• Assures the classroom implementation and/or modifications for children’s needed health, and nutrition services per Medical Care Plans.
• All other duties as assigned

Supervision: The kitchen manager reports to the Health/Disabilities/Nutrition Manager

Qualifications:

• GED or High School Diploma
• 18 years of age or older
• U.S. citizen or legally able to work in the US
• Completes background checks
• Completes the employee medical examination
• Lifts and carries food and related items as needed
• Must have all required vaccinations
• Serv Safe Manager Certification
