Kitchen Manager/Head Chef

Highland Park Market is looking for an experienced, energetic, and hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead our busy kitchen and prepared foods operation.

We are seeking a strong kitchen leader with at least 5 years of professional kitchen experience, proven staff management skills, and catering experience. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working alongside their team and takes pride in quality food, excellent service, and a well-run kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, schedule, and motivate kitchen staff
• Work hands-on with food preparation and daily kitchen operations
• Oversee catering orders from preparation through completion
• Ensure food quality, consistency, presentation, and timely production
• Manage daily kitchen workflow and production
• Monitor inventory, ordering, portion control, and food waste
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen
• Help develop and maintain prepared food and catering offerings
• Ensure catering orders are accurate and completed on time
• Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment
• Coach employees and provide effective leadership
• Work with store management to achieve department goals and provide excellent customer service

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional kitchen/food service experience
• Previous experience managing and supervising kitchen staff
• Catering experience strongly preferred
• Strong cooking and food preparation skills
• Comfortable working hands-on alongside the kitchen team
• Excellent organization and time-management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Reliable, professional, and positive leadership style
