What they need

Kitchen Operations Team Leader / Cook

Perth’s Outback Splash is seeking an experienced, hands-on cook to join our Team as Kitchen Operations Team Leader.

This is a seasonal leadership role for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen, leading from the front and supporting a Team to deliver quality food and great Guest experiences.

You will work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager and Food & Beverage Supervisors to support the day-to-day operation of our kitchen and food outlets, including the Burger Bar, Food Van, Snack Shack and catered functions.

This is very much a hands-on role. You will be preparing and cooking food during service, coordinating kitchen preparation, supporting Team members, managing stock and helping ensure the kitchen is organised and ready for busy trading days.

About the role

The Kitchen Operations Team Leader plays an important role in ensuring our back-of-house operation runs safely, efficiently and consistently.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the daily operation of the kitchen and supporting food production across multiple outlets
  • Preparing and cooking food during service while maintaining quality and presentation standards
  • Coordinating daily kitchen preparation and ensuring outlets are ready for trade
  • Training, coaching and supporting Kitchen Team members
  • Ordering food and kitchen supplies as directed by the Food & Beverage Manager
  • Receiving deliveries and ensuring goods are checked, stored and rotated correctly
  • Maintaining organised storerooms and effective stock control
  • Coordinating catering for birthday parties, BBQs, group bookings and other in-park functions
  • Maintaining high food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Supporting opening, closing and daily kitchen procedures
  • Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, Supervisors and other operational Teams across the park

The role requires someone who can balance food preparation, Team leadership, organisation and practical operational support.

About you

You may currently be working as a cook, senior cook, kitchen supervisor or Team leader within hospitality, tourism, events or another busy food service environment.

You will ideally bring:

  • Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment
  • Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills
  • Experience leading, mentoring or supporting a kitchen Team
  • Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods
  • The confidence to provide clear direction and maintain standards
  • A positive attitude and willingness to lead by example

A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol qualification would be highly regarded, or you will be willing to obtain these if required.

Most importantly, you will be someone who enjoys being part of a Team, takes pride in producing quality food and is willing to get involved wherever needed to keep the operation running smoothly.

What we offer

  • A hands-on kitchen leadership opportunity for the 2026/27 season
  • A varied role across multiple food outlets and catered functions
  • A supportive Food & Beverage and management Team
  • Ongoing training and leadership development
  • Free onsite parking
  • Team discounts, benefits and events
  • A busy seasonal environment where no two days are quite the same

Weekend and public holiday work is a key part of the role during the park’s operating season.
