Ready to play a vital role in creating memorable dining experiences for every guest?

If you enjoy working as part of a team, take pride in maintaining high standards and thrive in a busy kitchen environment, we’d love to hear from you.

At Sarova Hotels, we’re a family-run collection of hotels where people genuinely matter. We believe that when we look after our team, they’ll look after our guests. That’s why we invest in our people, support career development and create an environment where everyone feels valued, encouraged and able to grow.

As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll be an essential part of our kitchen team, working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly. From keeping our kitchen spotless and organised to ensuring our chefs have the clean equipment they need, your contribution will help us deliver the exceptional dining experiences Sarova is known for.

No two shifts are the same. You might be supporting the chefs during a busy breakfast service, helping with deliveries, preparing room service sandwiches or carrying out essential cleaning duties. Whatever the task, you’ll take pride in your work and play an important role in maintaining our high standards.

The Role

Working as part of our busy kitchen team, you’ll help maintain a clean, safe and well-organised working environment while supporting the smooth running of daily kitchen operations.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring all crockery, cutlery, cookware and kitchen equipment are cleaned and ready for use, keeping kitchen and storage areas spotless and assisting our chefs whenever needed.

You’ll also help manage waste responsibly, support the safe storage of deliveries and carry out basic food preparation tasks when required.

Above all, you’ll work closely with your colleagues to maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and health and safety, helping our kitchen team deliver a consistently great experience for every guest.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is hardworking, reliable and takes genuine pride in doing a job well. Previous experience working as a Kitchen Porter or in a busy kitchen environment would be an advantage, but it’s your attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn that matter most.

You’ll be organised, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and attention to detail are essential. You’ll understand the importance of cleanliness and hygiene and be happy to get stuck in wherever help is needed.

Most importantly, you’ll bring a positive, can-do attitude to every shift, enjoy supporting your colleagues and be committed to maintaining the high standards our guests expect.

Why join Sarova Hotels?

As a family-run hotel group, we know that great hospitality starts with great people. We pride ourselves on creating a supportive workplace where everyone is encouraged to develop their career, share ideas and enjoy coming to work.

Whether you’re looking to begin your career in hospitality or develop your skills within a professional kitchen, we’ll give you the support, encouragement and opportunities to help you succeed.

Our Benefits Include:

  • Stream – flexible access to your earned wages & financial coaching App
  • A paid day off for your birthday
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family
  • Saroving Rewards for going the extra mile & delivering exceptional guest service
  • Employee appreciation events
  • Family & Friends Accommodation rates & employee F & B discounts at all hotels in the group
  • Opportunities for training and development & recognising your potential

As our Kitchen Porter, you’ll have...

  • A positive, hardworking attitude and a willingness to get stuck in.
  • A genuine commitment to maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work efficiently and remain focused in a busy, fast-paced kitchen.
  • A proactive, can-do approach and the ability to use your initiative.
  • A friendly, professional manner and a willingness to support your colleagues.
  • An understanding of basic food hygiene and health and safety practices, or a willingness to learn.
  • The ability to follow instructions and work safely with cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • A smart, clean appearance and high standards of personal hygiene.
  • A flexible approach to working mornings, evenings and weekends across any of the seven days of the week, according to the rota.
  • A hands-on attitude, a reliable approach to work and a commitment to being part of a successful team.

What will you be doing as our Kitchen Porter?

  • Keeping our kitchen, pot wash and back-of-house areas clean, tidy, safe and well organised.
  • Washing and sanitising crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, utensils and kitchen equipment to ensure everything is ready for service.
  • Operating dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring it is kept clean and in good working order.
  • Cleaning and sanitising kitchen surfaces, sinks, floors, shelving, storage areas and food preparation equipment.
  • Carrying out regular and deep cleaning duties in line with our kitchen cleaning schedules and hotel standards.
  • Supporting our chefs by ensuring clean equipment and utensils are available throughout service.
  • Assisting with receiving, unpacking and safely storing deliveries, following appropriate stock rotation procedures.
  • Helping with basic food preparation tasks, including preparing sandwiches for room service orders when required and appropriately trained.
  • Managing kitchen waste responsibly, including emptying and cleaning bins, separating recyclable materials and keeping refuse areas clean.
  • Following all food safety, hygiene, health and safety and COSHH procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Reporting any damaged equipment, maintenance issues or potential safety hazards promptly.
  • Working closely with our chefs and kitchen colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
