About the role

Shared Table is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Staff member to join our culinary team in the Bishan Central Region. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our kitchen operations, supporting our chefs in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. You will be part of a dynamic team committed to maintaining the highest standards of food preparation, hygiene, and presentation. This role is essential to ensuring our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently whilst maintaining our reputation for quality and excellence.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and processing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning vegetables, meats, and other ingredients according to recipes and standards
• Assisting in the cooking and plating of dishes under the guidance of senior chefs, ensuring consistency and quality across all meals
• Maintaining strict standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, including cleaning workstations, equipment, and floors throughout service and at the end of each shift
• Managing food storage and inventory, ensuring proper organisation of ingredients and adherence to food safety protocols
• Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment safely and responsibly, following all operational guidelines
• Supporting the team during service periods, responding promptly to requests and contributing to the smooth flow of kitchen operations
• Following recipes and plating instructions precisely to maintain consistency and quality standards
• Assisting with stock rotation, checking expiry dates, and reporting any damaged or expired items

What we're looking for

• Prior experience working in a kitchen environment, whether in a professional restaurant, catering facility, or similar food service establishment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene
• Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demanding nature of kitchen work, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside chefs and other kitchen staff
• Ability to follow instructions carefully and work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
• Reliability and punctuality, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed
• Basic knife skills and familiarity with food preparation techniques
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is advantageous
• Relevant food safety or culinary certification would be beneficial but not essential
