Kitchen Steward

Job Summary

As a Kitchen Steward, you are responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in the kitchen and food preparation areas. The role involves washing and sanitizing dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment, as well as assisting the kitchen team with basic cleaning and support tasks to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash, clean, and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, including floors, sinks, workstations, and storage areas.
• Properly dispose of garbage and segregate waste according to company procedures.
• Assist kitchen staff with cleaning and organizing work areas.
• Ensure adequate supply of clean and sanitized kitchenware and utensils.
• Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to established procedures.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing kitchen supplies when required.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
• Report damaged equipment, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
• Perform other kitchen support and cleaning duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a kitchen steward, dishwasher, utility worker, or similar position is an advantage.

• Knowledge of basic kitchen sanitation and safety practices.

• Able to lift and carry kitchen equipment and supplies when necessary.

• Reliable, hardworking, and punctual.

• Able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
